ESPN’s big piece about the transfer window to come has some interesting takes for Chelsea fans wondering if they should be excited or not about another potentially busy summer ahead.
“Despite major investment, Chelsea’s squad is still obviously short in multiple areas,” they write.
“Most pressingly, they need a centre forward and at least one new centre back. The Blues are no strangers to signing wingers but they would benefit from an upgrade out wide as well. It remains to be seen what Alonso’s preferred system will be as that would obviously also influence the club’s focus on spending.”

In terms of centre forwards, Chelsea have both Nicolas Jackson and Emmanuel Emegha to think about this summer. Plus Liam Delap, who really struggled in his first season. We’ve heard talk of each of them being loaned or sold at some point.
It will be really interesting to see who wins the game of musical chairs to stay as Joao Pedro’s backup. Will it be one of them? Two of them? Or will they all be moved on and a new player added?
