Marc Cucurella has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer after the Chelsea defender’s bombshell interview during the March international break
Marc Cucurella faces a summer dominated by speculation and uncertainty with the Chelsea defender open to departing west London and wanted by an array of European clubs.
The 27-year-old, who has been at Stamford Bridge since signing from Brighton for £60million in the summer of 2022, opened up on his frustration with the club in a bombshell interview during the March international break. Cucurella criticised the Blues’ youth-centric transfer policy, which has since been slightly tweaked, as well as calling for more stability following the chaotic break-up between the club and Enzo Maresca in January.
It will come as little surprise, then, that a few months on and Cucurella is open to leaving Chelsea this summer, according to sources. The Blues are not actively looking to sell the Spain international, though will be willing to part ways with the left-back should the right offer arrive in their direction.

It is a similar story with Enzo Fernandez, who also wants to depart SW6 when the summer transfer window officially opens later in the month. Chelsea are open to allowing the Argentina international, who like Cucurella conducted a telling interview three months ago, if the Blues have a £120m offer come their way.
Sources tell football.london the west London club were more willing to put a set price on the public record for Fernandez after stories, believed to have been sourced from the Argentine’s camp, claimed the midfielder was available for considerably cheaper than the £107m Chelsea paid in 2023.
However, no such stories have yet emerged with Cucurella and club sources are much more secretive when it comes to a set price. Xabi Alonso has been in contact with numerous members of the squad he will inherit in July, including his compatriot Cucurella, who will represent Spain in the upcoming World Cup later this month.
Atletico Madrid are known to be one of several clubs with an interest in Cucurella, while Barcelona are also said to be long-time admirers. There have been rumours, too, of a reunion between Cucurella and Manchester City-bound Maresca. The Manchester club wanted to sign the Spaniard before Chelsea ended up bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
