Liam Rosenior has spoken to the press following Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
Liam Rosenior has provided an update on Enzo Fernandez and Estevao Willian following Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United. They were both forced to come off due to injury at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
Estevao pulled up after chasing a lofted pass behind the opposition backline. After receiving on-field medical treatment, the 18-year-old winger signalled to the bench that he was unable to carry on.
He limped off the pitch and headed straight down the tunnel. Speaking to reporters after the game, the Blues boss revealed that Estevao was in floods of tears at the break.
“He was devastated, he was crying at half time. It looks like a hamstring,” said Rosenior. Then, in the final minutes, Fernandez requested to come off after landing awkwardly inside the opposition box.

With Chelsea chasing an equaliser, the 25-year-old midfielder was swiftly replaced by Romeo Lavia. On Fernandez, Rosenior said: “I think it was his calf. I’m hoping it was cramp, we need him for Tuesday.”
The west Londoners have lost, and failed to score, in each of their last four league games for the first time since November 1912, when they endured a slightly longer barren run of five matches. On the result, Rosenior said: “Very frustrating.
Sky Sports, HBO Max, Netflix and Disney+ with Ultimate TV package

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
“The goal today, they had one shot on target in the game. You can say the same about Newcastle a few weeks ago. We know what needs to improve at this club.”
Chelsea remain four points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand, in the race for qualification to the Champions League. On the battle for a place in the top five, Rosenior said: “It gives us a mountain to climb. We have to go into Brighton knowing we need to win the game.”
Speaking to the BBC on Match of the Day, the Chelsea boss insisted his side can still qualify for the Champions League. He said: “It is so difficult. Today they had one shot on target while we were down to 10 men.
“We had wave after wave of attack and hit the woodwork I think four times. I don’t want my team to feel things are against us. We have to keep fighting.”
On the goal: “We have to defend that moment better. We don’t and we get punished. At the moment any small mistake we are making and the ball ends up in the back of our net and that has to change.
“It is about results and we haven’t got a result today we should have. The small things add up but we have to keep working hard.”
On whether he feels under pressure, Rosenior said: “No. I put myself under the most pressure. We just have to keep working with the staff and the players to turn things around.”
On if Chelsea can finish in the top five, he replied: “Of course.”
